An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Monday sentenced a 32-year-old man, Francis Joseph, to one year imprisonment for stealing a laptop, worth N375, 000 in a church. The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Ope-Agbe, who handed down the verdict, found Joseph guilty and ordered that the sentence would run without an option of fine. She ordered that the sentence would take effect from the day of arraignment on July 10. Joseph had on July 10, during his arraignment on a count charge of stealing, pleaded not guilty. The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, has inaugurated two newly completed blocks accommodation for officers and men of Army Cyber Warfare Command at Giri in Abuja. While inaugurating the buildings on Monday, Buratai, said the project was initiated to provide an enabling environment for the officers to operate. Represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Lt.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, he said that the construction of the facility was commenced September 2018. To boost the creative sector’s contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has expressed plans for development of creative industries park across three major cities. Mr Godwin Emeifele, CBN Governor, stated this on Monday at the Creative Nigeria Summit in Lagos. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it will not extend the Sept. 30, deadline for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) in Kogi and Bayelsa. Mr Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman Information and Voter Education Committee, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Abuja. Okoye stressed that the commission had no reason to extend the deadline for the collection of the cards in the two states.
