The Police on Tuesday said they arrested a female suspect over fake news in connection with the kidnap and murder of wife of a Kaduna based medical doctor, Philip Ataga. The Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Frank Mba disclosed this at a news briefing in Abuja. He said the suspect was arrested in connection with a post, circulated in the social media that a police officer was involved in the kidnap and murder of the doctor’s wife. Alleged unlawful detention: Court to hear N1bn suit filed by Sowore, Bakare against DSS on March 25
The Federal High Court, Abuja, will, on March 25, hear a separate suit filed by Omoyele Sowore, Convener, #RevolutionNow, and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare, against the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged unlawful detention. Justice Inyang Ekwo adjourned the matters after the regularisation of processes filed by parties in the suits. The Joint Military Force in the Niger Delta on Wednesday confirmed that four soldiers were killed in an ambush by unknown gunmen at Letugbene in Bayelsa. Gov. Babagana Zulum of Borno has disbursed N100 million to 10,000 households displaced by flood in Rann, Kala Balge Local Government Area of the state. Mr Isa Gusau, the Special Adviser on Public Relations and Strategy to the governor, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday in Maiduguri. Gusau said the governor had on Tuesday inaugurated the disbursement exercise in Rann, a border community between Nigeria, Cameroon and Chad Republics. World Bank approves 6 projects for Nigeria
The World Bank has approved six projects to support Nigeria’s development priorities. In a statement by the bank on Wednesday said the projects would be focusing on improving immunisation and providing an enabling business environment for private sector. It said the projects would also capture expansion of the digital economy to promote job creation and increase capacity of public and private sector on governance, social and environmental safeguards. “These projects are focused on delivering better services to Nigerian citizens. The Tax Appeal Tribunal sitting in Abuja, on Wednesday fixed April 22, for adoption of terms of settlement in a suit of alleged double taxation filed by “M FIFTEEN” Consultants against the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
