SERAP condemns re-arrest of Sowore
Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has “strongly condemned the violent re-arrest today of Omoyele Sowore and his co-defendant, Olawale Bakare by officials of the State Security Service (SSS), and the apparent harassment and intimidation of Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu.” Armed SSS officials reportedly stormed the courtroom, causing pandemonium at the court and physically assaulting Mr Sowore. The judge reportedly had to take cover. She had earlier ordered the SSS to release Sowore within 24 hours and also pay him N100,000 for improper legal conduct. Ride-hailing firm Uber Technologies Inc said it received more than 3,000 reports of sexual assault-related to its 1.3 billion rides in the United States in 2018, in a report aimed at assuring drivers and the public that it was serious about safety. 95,000 Nigerians to perform Hajj 2020
No fewer than 95,000 Nigerian Muslims are expected to perform the 2020 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports. Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) says a total of 77,827 candidates have registered for the Council’s December Diet Professional Qualifications Examinations (PQE). The Registrar of the Council, Professor Josiah Ajiboye, made this known in Abuja during a media briefing on the Special PQE which began on Thursday.
