The University of Ilorin has rewarded Akorede Mudathir, an Associate Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering with a Toyota Corolla car for emerging as the Best Researcher of 2018/2019 Academic session. Institution’s Bulletin issued on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara made this known. It said the award was presented to Mudathir at the 12th edition of the University of Ilorin Merit Awards. The Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) on Monday said that the trial of 5G, the fifth generation network technology, would be on trial for three months in the country before actual approval and rollout. The Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. Umar Danbatta, said this on the sideline of the Mobile and Disruptive Technology (MoDITECH) Forum 2019 in Lagos. Ahead of the Nov. 16 governorship election in Kogi, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has commenced training of visually impaired voters on how to use braille ballot guide and magnifying glasses on election day. The INEC Director in charge of civil society organisations, Mrs Dorothy Bello, state this while speaking at the opening of the training/sensitisation workshop in Lokoja on Monday. A team of detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Ikeja Police Station, CSP Gbenga Ogunsaki, has arrested one Miss Deborah Nwachukwu, 23, for stealing a Toyota jeep, cash and items worth N1 million. DSP Bala Elkana, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), said this in a statement released to newsmen on Sunday. First Bank of Nigeria Limited (FBN) has said that its FirstMonie network, introduced to boost financial inclusion, presently processes over 500,000 customer transactions daily. The bank’s Managing Director, Dr Adesola Adeduntan, disclosed this at the FBN’s agent banking national award ceremony.
