ICAO certifies Abuja, Lagos airports

Malawi dismisses reports of first Ebola case
Health authorities in Malawi have dismissed as false reports that first Ebola case has been recorded in the country’s border district of Karonga. The scare broke Sunday when health workers in the district that borders with Tanzania quarantined one person suspected to have Ebola signs and symptoms. Louis Tukula, environmental health officer for the district, told local media that the screening for the suspected 37-year-old man had shown that he had a bacterial infection and not Ebola. Cristiano Ronaldo reached a career landmark on Monday by scoring his 700th career goal in Portugal’s Euro 2020 qualifier at Ukraine. The 34-year-old scored a penalty as Portugal lost 2-1. His 700 goals so far have come from 973 matches – and he has scored at least once in 458 of those. The Coalition of Civil Society Network on HIV/AIDS in Nigeria (COCSHAN) says there is no local Anti Retroviral (ARV) brand in the country at the moment. Mr Ikenna Nwakamma, the first Co-chairman of the society, said this in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday while reacting to speculations that Nigeria produces and exports ARV drugs to neighbouring countries. Troops of Operation Thunder Strike have rescued the remaining four students of Government Day Secondary School Gwagwada in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, who were abducted on their way to school on Oct. 10. Two men, who allegedly broke into a phone shop and stole phones and accessories worth N635,000 on Tuesday, appeared before an Agbowa-Ikosi Magistrates’ Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State. The two defendants, Nejib Nuru, 20, and Shefiu Nafiu, 19, whose occupation and address were not stated, are facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and theft. Twenty-seven-year-old Amosu Ali, who pleaded guilty to stealing a motorcycle, was on Tuesday remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional facility by an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court. The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fagbohun, ordered that the defendant would remain behind bars pending sentence at the next date of adjournment. Mr Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Commander, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Borno, has warned grain dealers against hoarding of food items in the state.
