The Federal High Court, Abuja, on Monday, struck out charges bordering on non-declaration of assets instituted against Sen. Ike Ekweremadu, former Deputy Senate President, by the defunct Special Presidential Investigation Panel for the Recovery of Public Property (SPIP). Justice Binta Nyako dismissed the case for want of diligent prosecution. Mr Umoru Ambrose, Kwara State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), on Monday called for the establishment of drug clubs in tertiary institutions. Ambrose made the call during a visit to the Vice-Chancellor, University of Ilorin, Prof. Sulyman Abdulkareem. According to him, establishing clubs would go a long way in discouraging the use of hard drugs on campuses and improve the mental health of students on campuses. Mrs Jema Iheme, state Coordinator, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), says the board has approved nine Computer Based Test (CBT) centres in Ebonyi for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, says the provision of more link roads, education, and community health facilities would be the council’s top priorities in 2020. The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), on Monday, donated relief materials for distribution to 20, 000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno. The Director-General of the Agency, Dakuku Peterside, made the disclosure at the presentation of the items in Maiduguri. President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the constitution of a National Humanitarian Coordination Committee (NHCC), to oversee humanitarian activities in the country. Mr Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, confirmed this development in a statement in Abuja on Monday. The Lagos State Police Command has arrested members of ‘Aiye’ and ‘Eiye’ confraternity who engaged themselves in a battle for supremacy over the weekend at Iso Isu area of Ijora Badia.
