The Kwara House of Assembly on Tuesday urged the state government to reduce the number of state-owned technical colleges from six to three in order to attract more development. This was part of the resolutions of the House after adopting the report of its Committee on Education and Human Capital Development on a memorandum to revamp technical and vocational education. Alhaji Sagir Madaki, Director, Kano State Fire Service, is dead. Madaki, aged 56, died at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano on Tuesday. Alhaji Saidu Muhammed, spokesman of the fire fighting outfit, while confirming Madaki’s demise in a telephone interview, said that he had been on admission in the hospital for three days before he passed on. He said that the deceased joined the services of the Kano State Fire Service in1985 and rose to the rank of a Director in October, 2017. “He has already been buried in Kano according to Islamic rites,” Muhammmed told NAN.
The people of Akaibite-Agu Community in Ugbene-Ajima, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State have hailed Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for granting autonomy to the community after 61 years of agitation. Speaking at his coronation on Tuesday as the maiden Traditional Ruler of the community, Igwe Romanus Eze, thanked the governor for the gesture. Hundreds of Adamawa youths on Tuesday blocked the federal highway passing through the Girei community to Yola, the state capital, and other parts of the state to protest against incessant kidnappings in the area.
